Southern Mushrooms Ltd was founded by Ciprian Capatina in 2021 with a mission to provide a superior and unique culinary experience centered around mushrooms. Dedicated to quality, our mushrooms are carefully foraged and meticulously cleaned, ensuring that every product we offer meets the highest standards. At Southern Mushrooms Ltd, we are passionate about bringing the finest mushrooms to your table, transforming every meal into a gourmet delight.

My Story 


My wild mushroom story began in the 80s, as a child foraging mushrooms and wild berries in the enchanting Transylvania region of Romania. Over the years, my passion for mushrooms only grew stronger. I discovered the joy of cooking with wild varieties, from King Boletes to Yellow Chanterelles, Matsutake, Amanita Caesarea, Armillaria, Lactarius, Truffles, Oysters, Boletes, and Morels. Their sweetness, earthiness, meaty texture, and health benefits are nature's culinary treasures.

In 2006, my life journey brought me to the wilderness of New Zealand, where I discovered the diverse and delicious edible mushroom species of Aotearoa. The thrill of exploring these new forests and finding unique mushrooms was an unforgettable experience.

This passion ultimately led to the founding of Southern Mushrooms Ltd, where I could share my love for mushrooms with others. Today, our carefully foraged and cleaned mushrooms bring the same excitement and exquisite taste to our customers, connecting them to the wild and wonderful world of mushrooms.
